“It's like Dave the Diver 3D with co-op and some really good art. You can even look to the sky on the roof.” — Steam review, 14 👍

What is this game?

Official store description:

"A casual 1-5 player co-op adventure where you explore the ocean, catch fresh fish, prepare sushi, serve customers, and grow your restaurant while uncovering the secrets of the mysterious Deep Blue."

Mornings you dive: shallows first, then the reef drop-off, then — once your oxygen gear and nerves allow — the trench. Evenings you run the sushi bar on the pier: slice what you caught, roll it, serve it before patience runs out. 1-5 players, split roles or chaos your way through. Early Access ($7.83) since August 20, 2026 by PaperPixel Games; the trench has story in it, and the community is still mapping it.

"We bought this to cook sushi. We stayed for the trench." — Steam review

Ship's Log — what the crew is arguing about

Does the door at the trench bottom open? (ONGOING 🔥 288 replies)

Day 8ONGOING

At 60m in the trench there is a closed iron door with light behind it. Eight days, nobody has opened it — lanterns brought, full crews, 3am visits, saluting at it. Placeholder theory (EA unfinished) vs key theory (a key exists that we have not found). The devs replied on Discord with a single eyes emoji.

Deep-dive oxygen ledger v2 finalized (VERIFIED ✅)

Day 6VERIFIED

Frame lab + dive crew re-measured: oxygen burns on depth×time, with 40m costing 2.4x per second vs 10m (not the intuitive 4x — buoyancy compensation refunds some). Ascending steadily saves 18% vs sprinting up. Table is on the Beginner Guide; the sprint-ascent camp is officially dead.

Storm-fish spawn pattern hypothesis (DISPUTED ❓)

Day 5DISPUTED

One player staked out seven storm nights and claims rare fish spawn "within 90s after lightning" (11 samples, 9 hits). Dissent: n=11 is nothing, and you cannot watch every depth band. The community now waits for one big storm to verify together.

Why does this game need a guide?

  • 01Fish are depth- and time-gated: the money fish live 40m down at night, and the menu does not tell you that.
  • 02Co-op has no tutorial: role splits, oxygen sharing and "whose catch is whose" are all unwritten law.
  • 03The trench is a lore ARG: radio logs, a sunken izakaya, a diver who was here before you — the map is community-built.
  • 04Bilingual guides are a blank — this site is the first systematic manual in any language.
